A: Due to the popularity of the AltaVista Search My Computer Private eXtension, the demand on our servers is extremely heavy. While we were ready for high response from the Internet community, our high-end servers and high bandwidth connections may be a bit slow at peak times. We will be adding capability. In the mean time, please try again at a non-peak time. Thank you for your patience. A: When you join the AltaVista Visionary Club, you can create any password you like.. A: Due to security reasons we are unable to provide you with your ID and password. Please feel free to go to the Visionary Club and rejoin. You will receive a new mail confirmation with your user ID and password if you elect this option. Please save this E-mail for future reference. It is also very important that you enter your current e-mail address.
A: A few visitors to our site have experienced similar difficulties when submitting forms. One possible explanation for this problem maybe the e-mail address that you've set up in your browser's options, mail and preferences. If you have a phony address set up in you browser's options, our site will attempt to respond to that address when you submit a form. Some have rectified this problem by changing the e-mail setup to correctly reflect e-mail address. They were then able to complete and submit the forms with no problems.
A: We have noticed that some people using Mosaic or Explorer Web browsers have on occasion had difficulty with our registration and download forms. This is not to suggest that these browsers are incompatible with our form server, but we have noticed fewer problems with Netscape.
A: If you wish to cancel your Visionary Club membership, simply send an e-mail to : unsubscribe@altavista.digital.com. In the subject and body of the message write "unsubscribe" and the E-mail address you want unsubscribed. This will cancel your subscription.
