How do I buy the AltaVista Search Private eXtension
products?

Q: Are there
versions for Macintosh, Win3.1, Linux, or other platforms?
A: No; while it will be possible for clients
on platforms such as Apple's Mac to access the search on a Windows NT
or Digital Alpha server, we are not currently planning on porting either
the client or the server software to work on any other platforms.
AltaVista Search My Computer Private eXtension, the client version, will
reside on your PC and will be platform dependent. We are currently offering
it only for the Win95 and WinNT 4.0 operating systems.
AltaVista Search Intranet and Workgroup Private eXtensions,
the server versions, will also be platform dependent. We will be offering
them for WinNT 4.0, and Digital Unix (64 bit Alpha). Clients will be able
to access searches on the server through the use of their Internet browser.
We will continue to evaluate the situation to determine if we'll port our
software to a Macintosh platform at a later date.
Q: Are
there versions in any languages other than English?
A: Search Personal eXtension will be available
in Spanish, German, French, and Japanese within 90 days of first customer
shipment of the English version.
Q: How
do I buy AltaVista Search PX?
A: AltaVista Search Private eXtensions are
available from the AltaVista Visionary Store or the AltaVista Partners.
