Q: Is there
a version for Macintosh, Win3.1, or Linux?
A: AltaVista Directory resides on your server
and is accessed through the use of a web browser on your Mac or PC. The
client is your browser.
While it will be possible for clients on platforms such as Apple's Mac
to access the Directory on a Windows NT server, we are not currently planning
on porting the server software to work on any other platforms.
We will continue to evaluate the situation to determine if we'll port our
software to a other platforms at a later date.
Q: When
will the final software be available, and how do I purchase it?
A: AltaVista Directory software will be
available for sale before the end of this year. You will be able to purchase
the software from our online store.
The software will also be available through resellers, catalog vendors,
Internet Service Providers, VARs, and the Digital Equipment Corporation.
Q: Are there
versions in any languages other than English?
A: AltaVista Directory will be available
in Spanish, German, French, and Japanese with in 90 days of first customer
shipment of the English version.
