Complementing the announcement of the new AltaVista Search products this past Spring, AltaVista Internet Software, Inc., also announced a technology and business agreement with Linguistic Technology for its Exposé™ and English Wizard Web/Server™ products. These two applications enhance the ability of AltaVista Search to meet critical end-user issues of locating and browsing information stored in client/server applications, data marts, data warehouses and databases. Used in combination with AltaVista Search, they permit users to search and retrieve information spanning multiple data sources in a single search. Exposé enables database administrators to publish database information, including metadata to AltaVista Search by generating HTML Web pages. English Wizard Web/Server makes it easy for any user to browse database information by asking business questions in everyday language. It then translates the natural language query into SQL to retrieve information from the database. English Wizard also turns the response into HTML so users can view results on a Web browser.
